Smietana Concert Promo

Hey guys, here’s a video from the Jarek Smietana Competition and Gala Concert at the Krak√≥w Philharmonic earlier this month in which I was lucky enough to take 2nd prize and meet guitar greats Mike Stern and Peter Bernstein as well as befriend some of the best young guitarists on the scene today. (I play my original composition “Haiti Song” at about 5:10)

Wow! What a productive summer it has been. Upon returning semi-triumphant from the Smietana Jazz Guitar Competition and subsequent performance at the Philharmonic in beautiful Krakow, sojourning, 2nd place trophy in hand, among the shuffling multitudes back to my modest Brooklyn hovel, I endeavored to return to the old country for some Spanish food, wine and good times with fellow musicians and family alike. Somewhere in the melee of gig-cations, hustling, writing new material, meeting musical heroes and befriending some of Europe’s baddest young guitar warriors, I managed to make a significant dent in my new record, which if all goes as planned, will be available before the leaves change colors and the dry goods in my pantry cease to be hot to the touch.

So now, gigs!

This Monday the 24th will see me back at Macao Trading Co. in Tribeca with my old friends Carte Blanche from 8:30-11pm.

Continuing the CB reunion, I’ll be at the Intercontinental Barclay Hotel in Midtown from 6:30-9:30pm on Tuesday the 25th.

On Saturday the 29th, we’ll be playing a show at the Django in the beautiful Roxy Hotel in Tribeca at 10:30pm.

And finally, I’ll be at the legendary Owl Shop with the legendary Hawkins Jazz Collective on both August 2nd and 9th from 9-12.
